For one of our combined Maths lessons this term we investigated speed. To do that we needed to make paper planes (of course)! Students were all asked to research and make a paper plane - we were looking for speed so they needed to make the fastest plane they could with only paper and scissors.
Groups selected their fastest plane and we held a competition to determine the distance and speed each plane was able to achieve. Using the formula of speed equals distance over time, we were able to determine the meters per second speed of the planes.
